11th January - Celebration Dinner

We celebrated our Platinum Anniversary in 2019 (1949 - 2019) and also the 2018 Centenary of Warwickshire Federation of WIs at Grimcote Manor Hotel. 38 Members were in  attendance and we invited  7 guests from other Wis and the Warwickshire Federation.

15 February The  Skittles Evening was an enjoyable evening and was successful making a profit of £297. It will be repeated next year

At our meeting on 4 April we celebrated the 70th Anniversary of the Curdworth Branch with cake and Prosecco.  The branch being registered on 18 April 1949.

6th June we held our Summer Show. The joint overall winners were Pat Johnson and Joy Wiseman. Jean Eady won Best in Show for her foliage in a basket arrangement. Pat Johnson won Best in Show in the Cookery section. In the Craft section Helen Smith won Best in Show for her dressed peg doll and Pauline Issac for her embroided item. Two Denman bursaries were drawn and these were won by Muff Atkins and Susan Treadwell. The winner of the WI planter was Rita James. Many thanks to Kate Burwell as Show Secretary.

On 14 June a charity walk around Curdworth was undertaken to show the children of Curdworth school some of the history of the area. The photo shows the exhibition put together by members about Curdworth.

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of Curdworth WI we placed a planter outside the Village Hall

We also got our oldest member Iris Clarke to cut our Platinum Anniversary cake.

In October the Group Meeting was held in Coleshill Town Hall where our guest speaker was "Eddie The Eagle"pictured below with Lynne Stubbings (NFWI Chairman) and Elizabeth Tranter (Curdworth WI Chairman).
